The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) is set to have a technical centre and mini grandstand which construction is expected to complete by December 2021.

The association on Thursday signed an agreement with Gemilang Latif Associates who will oversee the building of the new facilities which project is estimated to cost USD$2.1 million.

The construction of the two facilities which will be at NFABD compound is part of the FIFA Forward Development programme that aimed to facilitate football growth and development within FIFA member countries and confederation.

NFABD President Pg Hj Metusin Pg Hj Matasan in his remarks at the signing ceremony said that the facilities are to be used by its stakeholders, members and footballers alike.

“It is so that we can develop our players better to be the best for the future,” he said, adding that many international and domestic tournaments had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president further said that by the time the buildings are completed next year, NFADB also will mark its 10th year anniversary.

“Some people say 10 years is young but in football, age does not matter, what matters most is the team spirit,” he said.

He also reiterates that the association has engaged with a new technical director and referee director and soon to have a new national coach with hopes to put Brunei football in a better grip.

“This is no longer a dream but a dream come true,” concluded the president.

The technical centre is expected to help the local football fraternity to have a more proper, systemised technical setting in arranging training regimes and other programmes.

Meanwhile, the mini grandstand is to allow NFABD to host more events within its own home ground.

The deal was inked between Pg Hj Matusin Matasan and Gemilang Latif Associates founder, Mahri Hj Latif.

Also present to witness the milestone was Deputy Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Colonel (Rtd) Pg Hj Maiddin Pg Hj Said.
