PAD Motors recently unveiled the new Malaysian best-selling Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Proton X70 that showcases on quality and refinement matched to exceptional space and practicality.

The SUV which is the firstborn of the Proton and Geely partnership, is based on the facelifted version of the crossover SUV Geely Boyue, making it a historical milestone for both companies.

In the same vein as the Boyue, Proton’s newest high-riding model introduces new chapter in Proton’s design identity with charismatic styling cues inspired from the ‘Harimau Malaya’ form including its distinctive daytime running lights (DRL) that resemble a cat’s eyes.

Furthermore, the front bumper is elaborate and aggressive in design with nicely sculpted edges and aerodynamic lines giving the SUV a more sportier and refined look.

As you slide inside the car, the X70 will surely entice you, sporting luxurious nappa leather seat covers, high-quality materials throughout the cabin, classy satin metal details, and an array of new technology.

What impresses the most is comfort. The 5-seater SUV layout gives a good sense of space; in the rear head and legroom, boot and storage with the sunroof truly give it that open feel.

Customers have the option to choose from five fresh exterior colours from the striking Flame Red, Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey and Cinnamon Brow.

Its top-of-the-line technology is designed to make your driving experience fun and effortless.

The X70 features autonomous emergency braking, tyre pressure monitoring system adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera, among others.

Some of the features include an AI-powered voice command “Hi Proton” that lets the driver or passengers set the infotainment system and other vehicle functions.

The cabin of the SUV also maintains a focus on technology, creating a modern ambience to appeal to young-at-heart, tech-savvy customers.

Moreover, drivers can also choose three different driving modes; Normal, Eco and Sport.

Powering the X70 is the1.8-litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, which offers 181hp at 5,500rpm and 285Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,400rpm.

PAD Motors, the sole distributor of Proton in Brunei, is bringing in three variants of the SUV: Standard, Executive and Premium into the local market.

The new SUV aims to create a new niche within the lucrative and rapidly growing SUV market.

Deputy Director of International Sales for Proton Lee Eu San said that since the launch of the Proton X70 in December last year, over 16,000 units have been delivered making it a success story for the Malaysian company.

“The numbers account for a 47 per cent share of the SUV segment and has led to a 61 per cent increase in overall sales for Proton in 2019,” he added.
