PETRONAS Carigali Brunei (PCBL) recently held its inaugural Environmental Day 2018 aimed at promoting awareness on 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) initiatives.

The one-day event was a partnership with Green Brunei held at Bandarku Ceria, Taman Haji Sir Muda ‘Omar Ali Saifuddien in conjunction with Brunei December Festival.

The establishment also invited its vendors to be part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) event including, Daikyo Environmental Recycling, Sip.bn and Suitable Reusables to showcase their eco-friendly products such as metal and bamboo straws, among others.

During the launch of the month-long festival and the debut of PCBL Environmental Day, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to visit the company’s exhibition booth before signing the Royal Parchment commemorative.

PETRONAS’ Country Head of Brunei Mohamad Othman said that they aim to make the Environmental Day as an annual event to promote the 3R activities among their staff and members of the public.

“It is also to support ‘No Plastic Bags Everyday’ initiative by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation at the Ministry of Development,” he said.

PCBL is a subsidiary of PETRONAS established in 2011 to carry out exploration related activities in Brunei’s deep water and shallow water blocks through its Production Sharing Agreements with Brunei’s National Petroleum Company (Petroleum BRUNEI).
