Premier Dental and Orthodontic Centre has been awarded a four-year dental accreditation by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) after achieving a 96 per cent compliance rate on meeting international standards.

The centre is the first private dental clinic in the sultanate to be given such certification based on a comprehensive assessment by the Malaysian firm in July 2019.

The assessment looked into numerous categories, including access to care, facilities and equipment, human resources, practice, safety, ethics, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities.

MSQH is an international accreditation body that recognises medical facilities to ensure quality standards in healthcare facilities, services and management.

Managing Director of Premier Dental and Orthodontic Centre Dato Paduka Dr Hj Abdul Latif Hj Ibrahim said that the centre aims at offering quality dental services to the Bruneian community.

“The accreditation will enable us to comply with the existing regulations and statutory requirements in Brunei, offer better quality care, and strengthen community trust,” he said.

Sharing the same sentiment, Health Minister Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham Hj Jaafar said that the ministry hopes other clinics will also follow in their footsteps, giving more confidence to the public as well as the government.

On her part, General Dental Surgeon at the centre Dr Sumaya Rao said that the dental clinic is now on par with any other internationally recognised health institution.

“We have been striving for international standards in its various categories since the first day the clinic layout was designed… We already had the accreditation in mind,” she said.

The clinic layout, she added, was designed to practice highest standards of infection control and radiation safety measures, and full compliance of all regulatory and safety protocols.

The establishment is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, offering high standards of dental care and a full range of general dental and specialty orthodontic services in a relaxed and comfortable ambiance.

Services include free dental consultation, orthodontics, oral prophylaxis (Scaling and Polishing), fillings, gum treatment, oral surgery, children dentistry and acrylic dentures, among others.
