The PWM-Porsche Survivor Series Criterium is back this year for its final leg of the race and is calling the participation of all cycling enthusiasts in Brunei.

The event consists of two races – 3rd and 4th series – that will be held on August 26 and September 29 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium and Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, respectively.

Following the success of its previous two series in 2017, the Malaysian Association (PWM) teamed up with the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation (BDCF) and QAF Eurokars to organise the competition, completing the four series race.

In a press conference held by the organisations at Porsche Centre in Beribi, the race’s event manager and chairperson Mewsum Wong @ Aisha Diana Abdullah said that the grand finale of the cycling expedition will be held on the night of September 29.

“On top of the main expedition (at night), there will be a 20km Fun Ride which can be joined by all riders and members of the community. We are indeed very happy to continue the final race of the series and the event is significant with the 61st Independence of Malaysia in August and the Malaysia Day in September,” she said.

On his part, BDCF Secretary Omar Ali Ibrahim added: “The third race will cover a route of 1.2km at the stadium while the final race in the capital will be at 1.4km, in the following categories; Elite and Under 23, Master, Novice and Veteran.”

The race is open to amateurs as well as professional riders, BDCF members and non-members age 17 years and above. Winners of each category will bring home a limited edition B$4,000 Porsche watch along with prize money.

Full Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) BDCF rules apply for the event where participants must have a valid licence to race and purchase insurance prior to racing. The organiser is also teaming up with Takaful Brunei Am to promote cycling insurance.

During the race opening, riders will be led by a Porsche Macan which delivers 252 horsepower and torque of up to 370 Nm paired with a 7-paired PDK automatic gearbox.

Registration fee of B$50 inclusive of a race jersey, finishing medal and rental of the time chip is charged to all participants, or you can register for B$30 without the race jersey.

Meanwhile, the fun ride race fee is priced at B$30 inclusive of jersey and finishing medal with the chance of participating a lucky draw.

Registration for the third series is open now until August 19 while the fourth and final series will be closed on September 22.
