There is still some time left for art enthusiasts to view some of the rare local art pieces showcased under the Emerge Exclusive and Moment art exhibition at the Royal Wharf Art Gallery in the capital, which is scheduled to end this Friday.
Having opened earlier this month, the Emerge Exclusive and Moments Exhibition recently held an official inauguration ceremony which saw the attendance of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Major General (rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Aminuddin Ihsan Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin.
The exhibition which runs from July 12 celebrates the project’s achievement of reaching its first capstone in recording 53 emerging contemporary Bruneian artists.
Dedicating the exhibition to the artists and passionate individuals in the industry who have actively participated and contributed to the project’s success, Creative Space Art Gallery & Studio presented acknowledgement certificates during the ceremony to Amalina Abu Bakar for Best Technical Ability, Faizal Hamdan for Most Conceptual and Maziyah Yussof for Most Engaging Emerge Artist (Based on Participation).
Emerge Exclusive: Retrospective features 19 artists who have all participated in the Emerge project.
It aims to provide an insight into the development made in regards to contemporary artists producing works that are distinctly ‘Bruneian’ either on an aesthetic or conceptual level whilst still maintaining the ability to serve as a vehicle for message that can transcend cultural boundaries and effectively communicate to a global audience.
The retrospective exhibition also showcases the development of the gallery through this exhibition in a chronological timeline featuring artists and works that have been presented the series of past EMERGE exhibitions.
The Moments Exhibition held in gallery 1 is a solo exhibition by veteran artist Osman Mohamad, showcasing decades of art pieces.
Creative Space Art Gallery & Studio actively holds events with the aim to create public awareness of the local art community and foster and contribute to the flourishing eco-system of the Brunei creative industries.
The exhibition is open to the public every day from 9am to 4pm.
