Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) recently claimed the coveted “World’s Leading Cabin Crew 2020” accolade, just weeks after winning the “Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew” title at the 27th annual World Travel Awards (WTA).

The national carrier received the most number of votes in a world-wide poll from guests, travellers and travel professionals across the globe, competing against seventeen international airlines.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah in his speech said that the award to RB shows what can be achieved with a clear vision and through hard work.

“You are a great ambassador for the country, carrying the embodiment of our Bruneian culture of warm hospitality at the heart of what you do,” he said at the recent RB Cabin Crew Appreciation Ceremony.

RB’s cabin crew and other front liners have helped the airline achieve this and other notable awards including top 70 airlines in the world, Skytrax 4-Star Airline Rating, APEX Five-Star Major Regional Airline and winner of Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew.

“We all thank you for maintaining such a high standard in service delivery that has set us apart and above all others. Standards of the highest quality are what we envision for all RB guests to experience whenever they fly with the airline,” said the minister who is also Chairman of RB Board of Directors.

He further highlighted that the national airline has brought much pride to the country throughout its 46 years of establishment since its incorporation on 18 November and being crowned the winner of World’s Leading Cabin Crew brings joy to all Bruneians.

“Our hearty congratulations to all RB’s cabin crew and Cabin Services team, a well-deserved recognition for your exceptional service,” applauded the minister.

Meanwhile, RB’s Chief Executive Officer Karam Chand acknowledged that both awards – World’s Leading Cabin Crew and Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew by the prestigious WTA are well-earned and a reflection of the airline’s service strategy and single-mindedness to establish RB as a well-respected global brand.

“The (latest) award demonstrates we have won the hearts and minds of our guests and travel professionals worldwide and a stamp of approval of our hard work, dedication and world-class service over a number of years,” he said.

Winning the World category as a global leader in cabin crew, he added, marks a new chapter in RB’s proud history and more recently as a boutique airline standing above the much bigger and well-resourced global airlines.

“Being a boutique airline requires us to clearly differentiate ourselves from others and there is no better way than with the Bruneian hospitality that comes from the heart combined with our service vision through the thought of the little things we do and one that cannot be duplicated by the competitors,” continued the CEO.

Chand also expressed his heartfelt and sincerest gratitude to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Brunei Government and the Board for the trust and support extended to RB.

“I would like to congratulate every Cabin Crew, Cabin Crew Management and Staff, the Trainers, the Project Team behind this award and Team RB,” he concluded.

WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. The WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.

For his part, Graham E. Cooke, the founder of WTA who also applauded RB for winning the prestigious award said, “The entire team possesses an incredible passion for raising inflight service to an entirely new level, and I am delighted that this has been acknowledged by both the travel trade and consumers.”

RB expressed gratitude to all of its frontline crew, on-air and ground for their hard work and dedication that has made the country and the national carrier proud.

The airline currently operates a fleet of fourteen aircraft comprising of five Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, seven Airbus A320NEOs and two Airbus A320CEOs – making their fleet one of the youngest in the world.

In 2019, RB received a Five Star rating from the 2020 APEX Official Airline Ratings and was ranked 66th in the top 100 airlines in the world and awarded Four Stars at the 2019 SKYTRAX Awards.

Further cementing its position among the world’s favourite airlines, RB was ranked by TripAdvisor users as favourites in Travellers’ Choice Regional Airlines (Asia) for the past three years.
