Readymix Concrete handed over donations to two local charity organisations yesterday, providing assistance to underprivileged children in preparation for the new school year.
A total of $1,040 was given to BANTU and Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) as part of the company’s youth empowerment initiative.
The contribution, Readymix added, should be able to provide at least 50 children with new school uniforms, school books and stationeries.
Founder of BANTU Hajah Normah Suria Hayati PJDSMDSU (Dr) Hj Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri expressed her sincere thanks to Readymix for providing assistance for the children under the orgranisation’s care.
“The help is timely as we need to buy books and other school needs for our girls. Currently, we have 10 girls who are in Year 7 until O Level class (Year 11),” she said, adding that BANTU’s boarding house only caters to girls and BANTU services is looking after 46 families.
Meanwhile, MKM Head of Children Committee Zubaidah Dato Hj Abu Zar said that the organisation is indeed happy and thankful for the generous contribution from Readymix.
“For us, any help means a lot and at the moment, there are many people who are in need and we are helping them in any ways we can…” she said, adding that MKM is currently helping about 400 families with more than 500 children.
On hand to present the cheques to BANTU and MKM was Readymix’s Marketing Executive Zara Laila Abdul Hadi.
“The company is thankful for the partnership we have with these charity organisations and we have previously worked with them on other CSR projects. They have the necessary resources required to fulfill the company’s mission in providing these academic necessities to the children,” she said.
The handover ceremony was held at the company’s office at Jalan Pengiran Babu Raja.
