Registration for Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam (Pusat Ehsan) Charity FUN Walk Run Cycle 2021, the Brunei-Muara edition, is officially opened with the NGO expressing hopes for more participation by members of the public.
Slated for Sunday, 27 June 2021 at the Berakas Multpurpose Hall, this is the second time that Pusat Ehsan has organised the Charity FUN Walk Run Cycle event this year, with the first edition being held in Tutong last April which had garnered more than 300 participants.
“The third (edition) would be in Kuala Belait in August and the final would be in Temburong in December,” explained Simon Leong, the Co-Chairperson of the event.
“The centre is hoping for more participants this year since the event is not geared (towards) competition but rather a fun walk, run or cycle event,” he added during a press conference on Tuesday.
He then explained that the categories of the event include a 3km Fun Walk and a 3km Fun Run which would allow people of all communities, including the special needs community, to take part in the event and enjoy the fun pace.
The cycling aspect of the event is a 21km Fun Cycle category for cycling enthusiasts who wish to participate and support the cause..
This year’s Pust Ehsan Charity FUN Walk Run Cycle 2021 also introduced another element to the annual event which requires participants to collect four puzzle piece medals by taking part in each district edition of the event.
By collecting all puzzle piece medals, participants can stand a chance to win amazing lucky draw prizes after all four events have been completed.
“The people who will participate in this event will not only enjoy their time but (they will) also support a meaningful cause, where all of the money raised from the event will benefit a local charity that is Pusat Ehsan,” added Leong.
He went on to explain that the main impetus of the event is to raise funds to assist the centre with its growing operating costs while assuring members of the public that their participation in the event would allow their students to “live a meaningful life in society”.
“The funds will used to help individuals with special needs while also instilling awareness about the community to advocate for their rights and needs,” he added.
