Local ride-hailing company Dart has partnered with Aziz Latif Company (ALC) to provide ride-sharing services to residents in the Belait District.
The companies’ pilot project dubbed “Share Ride” is set to run for three months, utilising ALC’s vehicles and well-trained drivers for rides booked in Belait via Dart’s mobile app.
The service which will be available daily from 6am, aims to boost public transport accessibility within the district.
ALC is the appointed contractor for the provision of transport and management of vehicles for Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP).
In a statement issued by BSP, the project is supported by the company under its In-Country Value initiative to help realise Brunei’s Wawasan 2035 by growing sustainable local goods, services and capabilities.
BSP In-Country Value Manager Hjh Rosita Hj Hassan said that Share Ride can provide another means of public transportation, which in turn will accommodate the needs and boost the socio-economic status of the community.
“Over time, we hope to see more drivers which will also generate more employment opportunities for our locals,” she said.
The latest milestone, BSP added, hopes to further boost in-country value initiatives championed by the company for the country through the creation of sustainable business opportunities and new additional employment in the district and beyond; whilst providing a fresh solution for greater public mobility and accessible public transport for the community in the district.
Meanwhile, BSP Deputy Managing Director and Technical Director Yap Kong Fah said that safety is the company’s number one priority; with the cars in excellent conditions and drivers from ALC are well-trained.
“We rely on our drivers to continue upholding the importance of road safety and set a good example for other drivers ensuring that everyone goes home safely. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this service and support our local entrepreneurs,” he added. – Analisa Amu
