Rumah Gelato eyes rapid expansion, opens third outlet

Homegrown ice cream parlour Rumah Gelato opened its third outlet in Serusop on Sunday as it eyes rapid expansion in Brunei this year.

Located next to Bake Culture and opposite fast food chain Jollibee, the new Serusop branch features the ice cream company’s biggest kitchen yet.

Its founder Mordeny Hj Mohidi said that the expanded kitchen will help increase production to meet growing demand.

It will also allow Mordeny and his staff to develop and experiment new gelato ice cream flavours as his company looks to expand the franchise further in the sultanate.

In addition, he said, the larger kitchen will serve as a primary on-site training ground for its growing staff.

Mordeny said that Rumah Gelato’s rapid growth this year has been the result of overwhelming public support on his brand.

“The initial customer response has been tremendous, which validates our strategy for an expansion” said the entrepreneur during the Serusop branch’s grand opening on Sunday.

This is the company’s second branch opened this year following its BIBD Connects outlet in Lambak Kanan.

The founder said this is just one of many more Rumah Gelato branches to come later this year.

Mordeny also revealed that the company is looking at introducing catering services in the future.

Founded in 2013, Rumah Gelato started off as a home-based business before opening up its first commercial outlet in Kiulap.
