The annual Sabre Travel Fair kicked off its 15th series today with a wide range of travel deals, products and services from various travel agencies and tourism bodies. 

Chairman of Sabre Travel Network Brunei Karam Chand in his opening speech at the launch of the fair said that they are thrilled to see the event has gained popularity over the years.

“We welcomed over 13,600 visitors last year and we are confident that we will surpass the number this weekend. The fair is a testament of our commitment to provide a platform to our travel partners to showcase their products and services,” said Karam who is also the chief executive officer of Royal Brunei (RB) Airlines.

Organised by Sabre Travel Network, the two-day fair is held at Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

The fair, which ends tomorrow is open from 9am to 9pm.

Other than travel packages, visitors will also stand a chance to take part in lucky draws to win amazing prizes and merchandise when purchasing flight tickets or products from participating agents and organisations.lucky draws to win amazing prizes and merchandise when purchasing flight tickets or products from participating agents and organisations.

At the RB booth, customers can enjoy some fun games, lucky draws with chances to win the airline’s merchandise.

Visitors can also get information on the airline’s new destinations and latest exciting development for the national flag carrier. 

Chief Commercial Officer of RB Martin Aeberli said that his team is delighted to highlight the national carrier’s news destinations at the travel fair while also engaging with travelers and industry partners.

“The Sabre Travel Fair is the perfect platform to demonstrate our appreciation to our home-based guests who continuously demonstrate their support by flying with us,” he said.

Ten local travel agents participate in the travel fair and they include Anthony Tours and Travel Agency, At -Taqwa Tours and Travel, Century Travel Centre, Darussalam Holdings, Freme Travel Services, Grace Travel Agency, Pan Bright Travel Service, JJ Tour and Travel Service, Southern Cross Travel Agencies and Straits Central Agencies.

As part of its grand draw next year, Darussalam Holdings is giving away grand winnings worth $8,000 – an umrah package for two or a travel package to any destination of their choice.

The draw is held in conjunction with the agency’s 25th anniversary celebration.

Customers who purchased flight tickets from the travel agent starting April this year until March 31, 2019 are entitled for the grand draw and the monthly lucky draw, said Darussalam Holdings’ Head of Marketing and Product Development Hj Jefri Hj Bachee.

Other exhibitors taking part in the fair are national tourism bodies such as Brunei Tourism Board, Korean National Tourist Office, Ministry of Tourism Indonesia, Sarawak Tourism Board, Taiwan Tourist Bureau and Tourism Authority Thailand.

Meanwhile, agencies from the medical and insurance services are represented by Bangkok Hospital, Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council and Takaful Brunei Am.

Also on site with their respective booths are Baiduri Bank Berhad, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Korean Airlines, Standard Chartered Bank and Royal Brunei Airlines.

Present to launch the opening of the travel fair were Minister of Communications Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Abdul Mutalib Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohammad Yusof as the guest of honour and member of Legislative Council and President of Travel Agent Brunei Association YB Hj Abdul Hamid @ Sabli Hj Arsad.
