More than 100 employees of Standard Chartered Bank (SC Brunei) with their families and friends were treated to a sungkai organised by the bank’s Recreational Club at Serambi Batil, Tarindak D’Seni recently.

Held as an annual event, the sungkai gathering served as an employee engagement activity to observe the diverse cultures in the bank.

SC Brunei’s CEO Pengiran Aki Ismasufian Pengiran Haji Ibrahim said: “The event is to show appreciation to our Muslim colleagues while for non-Muslim employees, they can learn more about the significance of fasting during Ramadhan.

“The process of experiencing the breaking of fast together also fosters unity, solidarity and bonding.  At Standard Chartered, we also believe in striking a healthy work life balance. While we get to know our colleagues in the workplace, it is equally important to have opportunities to get to know them outside of work.”

The Sungkai gathering is one of many employee engagement activities that the bank organises to encourage more open communications and also strengthen the organisation’s dynamics.

The Standard Chartered Bank Recreation Club (SCBRC) is run by a selected committee of staff who organise extra-curricular events such as trips, sports competitions and gatherings.
