Pan Bright Travel and Services recently co-organised the “International Back2School Run and Ride2School MTB Jamboree” with SMK Agama Miri, attracting thousands of Bruneian and international runners and cyclists.

The one-day event was a part of the travel agent’s “Lakas Tah Ke Miri” promotion in conjunction with Malaysia Mega Sales Carnival National Sales Campaign & Visit Sarawak Campaign 2019 in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia Brunei and supported by Sarawak Tourism Board.

More than 140 participants from Brunei took part in the event categories; 5KM Fun Run, 11KM Men’s & Women’s Open and Mountain Biking (MTB) Jamboree 44KM Open & Veteran.

Although not claiming first positions, some Bruneian participants performed well and made it to the top list in each category.    

For the MTB Jamboree Open, nine Bruneians were in Top 20 with Mazran Jamin scoring 1hr 25mins for the 44km ride, placing him in the 4th place behind three top Malaysians.

The remaining eight MTB participants were Md Arif Libut, Zuhairi Roslan, Suhardi Hj Lakim, Rahmat Amran, Hj Muhd Aiman Abdullah Engkang, Mohd Kamarul Haji Kadir, Samson Purad and Nur Jamri Johari.

Meanwhile, for the MTB Jamboree Veteran, three participants from Brunei made it to Top 10. Ali Mustapha came in third after completing the 44km route in 1hr 27minutes.

Veterans Haji Harun OKD Haji Semun and Hamjah Haji Hujan were in 7th and 9th places, respectively.

Furthermore, for the 11km Women’s Open, runner Syaza Imtiyaz Ans Nawi came in 19th place, making her as one of the Top 20.

Will Rushworth and Yadap Rai, who are foreign nationals staying in Brunei, came in second and 14th places, respectively.

Winners for the 11km run and MTB each won RM1,000 and a 3D2N stay for two at Ming Garden Hotel in Kota Kinabalu whereas, first runners-up received RM300 and a 3D2N stay for two at Abell Hotel in Kuching.

The “Lakas Tah Ke Miri” promotion is currently ongoing until July 31.
