Expressive with technological features, the all new Volkswagen Touareg Elegance and its top of the line variant, the Touareg R-Line stunned guests during an exclusive viewing last weekend.

The private launch which took place at the Maju Motors showroom, saw 200 guests eyeing the third generation of the best-selling Touareg.

First introduced 17 years ago, the car was named after a nomadic desert tribe: the Tuareg people from the Saharan interior in North Africa who are known to embody the ideal of man’s ability to triumph over the obstacles of a harsh land.

“The Touareg along with the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7 were designed together with the goal of creating an off-road vehicle that could handle like a sports car,” said Maju Motors head of marketing, Pg Ammirul Ammar Pg Adnan in his welcoming speech.

“And today, we will be introducing the all-new version of the Touareg which will change the way luxury SUVs will be portrayed in the country.”

“(It is) packed with features that are beyond the future. Luxurious fittings shared by many other super luxury brands,” he added.

The third generation has evolved bringing greater efficiency to its well-earned reputation for its design, comfort and performance.

Giving an overview of the car, Maju Motors Executive Director, Aziz Hasnan said that compared to the previous model, the latest Touareg is moderately wider, longer and lower.

“Thanks to the new platform shared among other Volkswagen Group luxury SUVs, the new Touareg has increased in size but dropped in weight. Its proportion is now a lot more easier on the eye.”

In terms of styling, both models caught the guests’ attention with its fresh new design.

Accentuating the Touareg’s already dynamic presence and chiseled surface, are strong, horizontal lines that gives the exterior design even more character.

The car’s front chromed solid grille integrates seamlessly into the headlights giving the SUV a masculine and sportier upgrade.

Furthermore, guests had a sneak peek into the luxurious and commodious interior of the five-seater.

Most of the changes are found inside the luxury SUV: the analogue displays are replaced with a state-of-the-art digitised “Innovision Cockpit” complete with entertainment, communication and navigation needs.

The impressive and minimally designed 12.3-inch digital cockpit display and a 15-inch infotainment screen is built on a highly intuitive system allowing drivers to customise it to suit their needs and preferences.

The cockpit is paired with the Dynaudio Consequences sound system that produces crystal clear audio – so get ready to connect your devices via Bluetooth, USB or Aux input.

Furthermore, the infotainment system has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in for users to connect their phone and get going!

As expected from a luxury SUV, the Touareg impresses with its high level of craftsmanship and high-grade choice of materials together with a wealth of technological features.

Comfort

Inside the spacious cabin, lights in the front foot-well, door sill protectors, light strips below the trim of the doors and dashboard can be adjusted with up to 30 different shades to set the right tone for the journey.

Typical of a family SUV, the Touareg ensures comfort, plenty of head and legroom and all-around visibility no matter where you sit.

Performance

Moreover, the Volkswagen prioritises safety with a strong history in innovative safety features that carries through to the latest models.
