Brunei’s Under-19 football squad is currently in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for the AFC Cup U19 qualification.
They are drawn into Group G alongside Thailand, Malaysia, Northern Mariana Islands and host Cambodia.
The boys have played three games so far with a 4-3 win against the Northern Mariana Islands before succumbed to a heavy loss 9-0 to Thailand and 11-0 to Malaysia.
Brunei U19 will meet host Cambodia on November 10 for their last group fixture.
The journey is far-fetched for Head Coach Ikhmarol Izzat Omar’s boys but this competition serves as good exposure for them to form a formidable team in the future.
These young Bruneians comprise of individuals from various academy clubs in the country and possess untapped potentials in the ASEAN football scene.
The last time Brunei made its appearance in the AFC Under-19 qualifying match was in October 2017, where they finished fifth in Group F after a one-run tie and lost three times.
Winners and four best runners-ups shall qualify for the final rounds of the AFC U20 Uzbekistan in 2020.
