The new-generation Toyota Camry has a bolder and sportier design, equipped with updated technologies and enhanced safety features.

Introduced in 2018, it is the first Toyota branded sedan to make its way in the sultanate with the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which greatly improves both performance and appeal of the car.

The tenth-generation Camry is bigger and wider as it is based on similar underpinnings of the Lexus ES with the GA-K (Global Architecture-K) platform, giving the sedan a fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades.

Elegant Exterior, Sculptured Sportier

Aesthetically, the latest Camry looks nothing like its previous predecessor.

The design of the mid-size sedan exudes the perfect blend of athleticism and elegance, captivating from every side with its “sensual smart” confidence.

The five-seater is inspired heavily by the Lexus design based on its polarising grille and noticeably sculpted shoulders, and swept-back headlights.

The first thing that grabbed our attention was its front fascia; the Camry gets a V-shaped grille with chrome inserts that are further complemented by the wraparound headlamps, giving the sedan a more aggressive look.

Buyers can choose from multiple premium colour options – Red Mica, Attitude Black Mica, Platinum White Pearl and Silver Metallic.

Indulgence and Innovative Interior

The designs inside the cabin are striking with its exquisite woodgrain moldings with its front panel equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen system and the controls can easily be accessed.

Moreover, the sedan promises better packaging with a long list of new features that includes wireless charging, a 9-speaker JBL Dolby audio system, a head-up display, a power-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, engine start/stop button and more.

The sedan is well-suited for long-distance and provides ample space for headroom and legroom for both driver and passengers with seats that are contoured for comfort.

Prime performance and state-of-the-art safety

The Bruneian team had a chance to feel the performance and efficiency of the all-new Toyota Camry right behind the wheels.

Under the hood, the power for the Camry comes from the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine found in the current model that generates 125kW/206 nhp at 6600 rpm with torque estimated at 235Nm at 4100 rpm.

The Camry offers a comfortable ride and its interior proved quiet throughout.

The journey from the NBT showroom in Gadong to the Berakas Forest Reserve was a smooth and controlled driving experience.

Riding in luxury-sedan comfort, the Camry was most at its element when we were cruising along the Muara-Tutong Highway.

Even at highway speeds and beyond, the Camry felt poised and solid all throughout the journey.

Moreover, if you are looking to save up on fuel consumption, the Camry is the perfect option that might suit your every need.

Paired with the latest engine technology and the choices of Eco and EV mode that helps improve the fuel-efficiency and performance of the sedan.

Other than that, the wide range of advanced driver assistance and safety features on the Camry was a great help and certainly made our driving easier and safer.

When it comes to safety, the Japanese automaker is ahead of the game. The five-seater comes with a highly-advanced Toyota Safety Sense package which consists of a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beam.

We were impressed with the Pre-Collision System, when the car detected an oncoming object in its path, the system immediately sounded the buzzer and displayed the word ‘Brake’ on its multi-function display. Once we pressed the brake pedals, the braking power also increased.

Notable safety features also include SRS Airbags, Anti-locking Braking system, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-start Assist Control, front and rear sensor and many more.

Combining its refined sporty good-looks, strong performance and state-of-the-art technology, the Toyota Camry is definitely a top contender in the family-sedan segment.
