Two local fashion designer brands, XOIA and Chantique will be showcasing their collection in the ASPARA Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2021, an international fashion event based in Kazakhstan between October 7 – 10.
With a European based audience, the event this season will be held in the Merke region, however, due to the pandemic, the event will be done via live streaming, with more than 60 esteemed fashion designers from 35 countries expected to participate through remote and online means.
XOIA and Chantique, both of whom are also Fashion Ambassadors of the ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase – a partner of the ASPARA Fashion Week – will be showcasing a total of eight sets of their latest womenswear designs and ten sets of their latest designs, including menswear pieces respectively.
Fadzil Hadin, Bruneian award-winning fashion designer behind Chantique, a Dubai-based fashion designer brand, is no stranger to participating in international fashion weeks with this being his second run participating in the ASPARA Fashion Week.
“It is indeed a great opportunity to sell our designs to Europe and other international buyers,” he said in a press statement, adding that his first participation in the ASPARA Fashion Week landed him clients from Russia.
“The heightened exposure and being featured among other esteemed international fashion designers have only motivated us to continuously improve and better the standards that we have set for our brands and crafts,” he added.
Meanwhile, for Atiqah Ismail, fashion designer and managing director of XOIA, being part of such an international fashion platform presented an amazing opportunity to showcase as well as grow the XOIA brand to newer audiences and markets.
In a press statement, she noted how international fashion shows are typically exclusive events for B2B and elite buyers to have first picks at new designer collections and limited-edition runway pieces.
Despite the changes brought on by the pandemic on how fashion shows are conducted currently, there is a silver lining the new norm of live online streaming and broadcasting of fashion shows have allowed fashion designers to reach new and a larger audience base.
“This will also shed more visibility to other Bruneian creatives within the industry, and hopefully give more encouragement to aspiring fashion entrepreneurs to believe that we can reach international heights,” she said.
“I am very grateful to partake in this event and I hope to see Bruneians tune in and give their support to local fashion designers,” she added.
Those who wish to watch the show may tune in between October 7 – 10, starting at 9pm Brunei Time on ASPARA FASHION WEEK’s YouTube channel, and Live on Instagram and Facebook.
This will also be an opportunity for Bruneians to view the latest designs not only from XOIA and Chantique, but also from other international designers. – Wardi Wasil
