Two more patients have recovered from the COVID-infection and no confirmed cases reported today, announced the minister of health.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham Hj Jaafar in a press briefing said that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the sultanate remains at 141 while recoveries increased to 134.
“This brings the number of active cases still under treatment at the National Isolation Center to six,” he said.
The minister also said that two patients are still in critical condition, where one still requires the heart/lung machine (ECMO) and respiratory assistance while one case only requires respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the rest are in stable condition, added the health minister.
At present, a total of 2575 individuals have completed their quarantine, while 110 individuals are currently undergoing quarantine in accordance with the Infectious Disease Act (Chapter 204).
In the past 24 hours, 416 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted from January 2020 to 15,898 tests.
Moreover, in follow-up examinations for the past three days, three recovered cases have re-tested positive, bringing the total number of such cases to 27 people.
In this regard, the ministry of health would like to inform that the statistics of such cases will no longer be shared and will only be used as an internal reference for the ministry.
“This is in light of available studies that have found that such cases have a high probability to be non-infectious and no changes are made towards their treatment,” said the minister, such cases will be monitored continuously by the ministry.
