Wu Chun wins Best Breakthrough Performance Artist

Wu Chun, Brunei’s own international actor and entrepreneur, has been awarded the Best Breakthrough Performance Artist at Shanghai Television Festival 2019 held recently.

He bagged the title for playing the challenging role as a villain possessed by an evil spirit in the Chinese drama series Martial Universe.

According to a press statement, the actor involved for about one year in the making of the television series which is by far the longest shooting days of his showbiz career.

In his Weibo account consisting of 10 million followers, he stated that “sometimes breaking through in acting does not only require a lot of courage but also good opportunity”.

“Staying positive is key for my preparations and I believe it’s not always having the mindset to be successful, but also embracing the mindset of learning. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to play such a sophisticated role,” said the father of two.

The awards were given to both international and national productions in China through voting by a panel of high caliber award-winning actors, producers, directors and writers.

Martial Universe started filming in late 2016 and has premiered mid-August in 2018 across TV channels in China, U.S, Canada, Latin America, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and South Korea.
