“Our signature purple rice is low in Glycemic Index (GI) which also means that it is easier to be digested compared to other topping and it can also be a healthier substitute for pearl,” he explained.

He also shared that the purple rice has high levels of proteins, fibre and vitamins such a Vitamin B1, B2, folic acid and rich in antioxidant which gives many health benefits.

Yomie’s Rice X Yoghurt began its soft opening in December while Chai initially wanted to get things up and running early this year, but the COVID-19 outbreak has put those plans on hold.

“Our initial plan was to open in March, but that was when Covid-19 first started and it delayed most of our operations and shipping of our ingredients,” he explained.

The challenges of the pandemic taught him that patience is key, adding that it took determination and teamwork to overcome the obstacles of bringing in a new franchise into the country.
