No new cases of the COVID-19 virus were reported in the sultanate for 29 consecutive days, leading the national tally to remain at 141 cases, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

Speaking during a press conference, Health Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham Hj Jaafar said that there were also no new recoveries making the total number of cases that have recovered from the novel coronavirus to stand still at 138 individuals.

However, one active case remains in critical condition undergoing treatment at the National Isolation Centre (NIC), requiring both respiratory and heart/lung machine (ECMO) assistance.

In the past 24 hours, a total of 414 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 20,619.

The minister went on to say that following the announcement on the BruHealth app, the minister said that the tracing app has accumulated 275,743 registered users including a total of 5,661 businesses and premises having registered on the platform.
